2026-2027 Special Project:

Women in Guitar

Women are underrepresented as performers on stage, as composers in the classical guitar canon, and as important figures in the retelling of history. In Pitt County and across the state of North Carolina, this project will highlight the impact of women in the classical guitar’s past and create experiences that encourage women and girls to engage with guitar in the present.

How can you get involved?

Teachers & Directors

Bring an RGC presentation to your school or event, perform our ensemble arrangements at your school, or join one of our upcoming events featuring music composed by women.

Students

Join us for the competition and masterclasses at the Greenville Guitar Festival. This year’s festival will focus on highlighting women in guitar. We will hire performers, teachers, and judges whose work promotes this focus through the performance of works by women and through efforts to increase access to guitar opportunities for women and girls.

Community

Attend upcoming performances at the Greenville Guitar Festival and throughout the year with artists focusing on music written by women.
